Wild Mountain is the place for your children to explore Sierra's winter wonderland! From adventure zones to terrain parks, your children will have tons to cheer about. Our instructors have the training, personality and patience to get kids out on the slopes and keep them smiling. THE BURTON STAR WARSTM EXPERIENCE
Snowboarders ages 3 - 6
Learn to ride, you will. Sierra-at-Tahoe, Burton Snowboards and Lucasfilm are teaming up to teach kids ages 3-6 the fun and art of snowboarding.

Blazers
Skiers ages 3 - 4 Are they ready?
The Blazers learn-to-ski program caters to little ones with short attention spans. Children learn the fundamentals of skiing in the morning and afternoon. This includes on-snow movement activities such as walking and snowplay in ski boots and a basic introduction to sliding on one and two skis. Outdoor adventure time is also combined with indoor activities.

Bandits
Skiers ages 5 - 6
The Bandits learn-to-ski program is aimed at slightly older children. In order to help develop their mountain skills and get the most enjoyment out of their skiing experience, the lesson combines off and on snow activities geared towards helping children understand the fundamentals and discover a passion for the sport.

Explorers
Skiers and snowboarders ages 7 - 12
Our Explorers program accommodates children of all abilities. This includes exclusive use of the Thunder Gulch learning area which is specifically designed to help children learn the basics of either sport and provide a safe environment for them to develop their fundamental skills in order to be ready to 'explore' what Sierra has to offer. Children in higher level classes are introduced to the entire resort and may enjoy some class time in our small terrain parks as well as the opportunity to eat lunch at the top of the mountain.

Things Parents Should KnowTo save time at the resort, we recommend parents to please call 530.543.3150 to make reservations 48 hours prior to your arrival.
- Please note that lessons are subject to selling out. While reservations are not required, we strongly recommended you make them at least 48 hours prior to your arrival.
- We recommend you arrive by 8:30 a.m. (8:00 a.m. on Saturdays and holidays) to allow for ample time for the check-in process. The check-in and registration process for full-day and morning classes ends at 9:15 am sharp. Afternoon lesson check-in and registration ends at 12:15 pm and is based on availability.
- Dress child appropriately for the weather. Layers are best.
- Be sure your child has eye protection (goggles for snowy days and sunglasses for sunny days).
- Hats, gloves, sunscreen and other items you might forget are available at the Wild Mountain Children's Center.
- Ski pants and helmet rentals are available at the Wild Mountain Children's Center.
- Be sure your child eats breakfast. Lunch is included in all full-day programs.
- Your child will be placed in a group according to their age and ability level. Although you will make a preliminary assessment, final placement is determined with consideration toward the safety of your child and other class members.
- Adult Lesson Packages and lift tickets can be purchased at Wild Mountain Children's Center.

Cancellation Policy: please call 530.543.3150 at least 24 hours in advance for full refund. $25 Fee applies for cancellations made before 7 am the day of the reservation. Full amount will be charged for cancellations after 7 am.
Is your 3 or 4 year old ready for ski/board school?
Is your child ready for a full day of skiing? Our Ski Program can be a fun filled experience for children. However, it can also be a demanding day both physically and emotionally for some 3 and 4 year olds.
Please read through the below characteristics to help you decide if a day in ski/snowboard school is the right option for your child. Children who exhibit most of these behaviors may be ready to learn to ski or snowboard. Please remember that all children MUST be fully potty trained to attend ski/snowboard school.
- My child attends daycare or preschool several days a week
- My child does not need naps
- My child responds to verbal directions and requests
- My child is comfortable interacting with other children and adults
- My child can focus on a single activity for an extended period of time
- My child easily adapts to new surroundings and situations
- My child is excited and wants to learn to ski today

Private Lessons
Private lessons are a great way to get started on the slopes or to elevate your skiing and riding to the next level. With one-on-one or small group instruction, a student can often progress his/her abilities more in one lesson than in an entire season without professional instruction. Sierra-at-Tahoe® Resort offers many affordable private lesson options, including:
Privates for all Abilities and Ages
Sierra caters to all levels of skiers and riders by pairing up the appropriate instructor for each ability and age. Choose from 2 hours, 3 hours or a full day of one-on-one instruction to help improve your ability. This individualized experience provides instant feedback and personal attention helping you fine tune your technique while enjoying a day out on the mountain.
Early Bird Special
The early bird gets the worm from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Those who take advantage of the Early Bird Special can enjoy a private lesson on freshly groomed slopes with no crowds and receive a great deal - just $85 - at the same time. Get a bonus 1/2 hour on weekends and holidays with Early Bird starting at 8:30 a.m.
Teach Your Kid Private
Let's do it together! This 2-hour private (for the price of 1 hour) is for parents who want to learn how to teach their child (ages 2 - 5). Parents and kid must be present and everyone gets instruction. This private is offered at 2:00 everyday. Reservations are recommended.

Reservations

Kelley (ski school) is amazing! I am a life'er (been skiing/boarding for 25+ years) but when the time came to teach my four year old how to ski, I was hesitant. I wanted to make sure she had a great experience...boy did she! The money spent on the private lesson was, quite possibly, the best money I've spent in years. Kelley had her skiing by herself (no hula hoop!) within three runs, and by her 4th run she was on her own starting to make turns. AMAZING.

We LOVED our beginner instructor Mark H. He was incredible with our little cousins - so encouraging and resourceful (Kim does not speak English). By the end of the class, both kids had graduated to Level 2 and Mark let them continue to practice their turns on the magic carpet as they weren't ready for the chairlift. The kids had a great time and were smiling and laughing the whole time. Teresa is so excited, she wants to try snowboarding on our next visit! And Kim said he had a BLAST! I was so impressed, I booked a private lesson with Mark for my next visit. We'll all be back!
