According to the internet (which, lets be honest, is never wrong... just kidding) the average kid smiles 400 times a day. I would make a strong argument that Sierra Team rider Maddie Bowman smiles twice as much. If you know Maddie, you know she always has a smile on her face and is having a good time.
In 2011-12 Maddie had what most would call a "breakout" season. Maddie took home a silver medal at the Winter X-Games, won a Dew Tour stop, won the World Freeride Championships and was named to the US Freestyle Team along with many other accomplishments and podiums.
Thanks to social media I was able to catch up with Maddie on FaceBook and ask the superstar skier a few questions…

All smiles, Maddie Bowman.
What have you been up to this summer?
I have spent a lot of time playing around Lake Tahoe and took a trip to Mt. Hood and Park City for some ski camps.
That sounds awesome. What is your favorite thing to do, in Tahoe, in the summer?
That's a hard one but, I would have to say going on the boat, swimming and BBQ's.
What is your favorite BBQ side dish?
(Laughs) Spinach Dip
Nice. Ok, enough about spinach and summer. Let's talk skiing, you had an amazing season last year. According to you, what was the best part?
Probably the last compeition I did which was WSI in Whistler, B.C.. I skied well and had a blast which helped me win. WSI is just a celebration with a great vibe.
If you had to pick one thing you enjoy about competition what would it be?
It would be getting to travel and see all new places. Plus, I get to share those adventures with friends so it makes it that much better.
Do you have any advice for a aspiring ripper who is looking to get to that next level?
Ski because you love it and don't get all caught up in the pressure and competition.

Another day at the office.
Good advice. I know you are going off to college soon, what are you looking forward to most about being a college student?
Defiantly meeting new people and having new experiences. I'm really excited I get to take part in both the college life and the ski life.
You, my friend, are living the dream. I also want to clear something up, my sources tell me you are a mixed martial arts master. Is this true and if so could you beat John Rice (Sierra Resort GM) in a fight?
(Laughs) We will have to see if the time ever comes. He's a pretty fit guy though. I just saw him the other day out on his road bike

Smiles and sweet socks.
I'll take that as a yes to both questions. Any shout outs?
(Laughs… again) To my homie Janet Campuzano, I'm on the phone with her right now, US Freeskiing, Scott, Rockstar Energy Drink, Escobar Training Grounds, my family and of course Sierra-at-Tahoe.
